Cambodia School Project Update:
Dear Mr. Nuon So Thero,

I am Khut Neytin an English and Computer as a teacher at the Shamballa Family School, donated by the Shamballa Family. It is located in Kat phluk Village, Phrah Kher Commune, Bor Seth District and Kampong Spear Province. Now I would like to report to you about my teaching activities for the month of October 31, 2011.

This month, I collected the students from 7, 8 and 9 grade. I have 80 students in total attending class, 37 of whom are girl. I taught 30 hours per week and 20 hours for computer class.

Teaching of English class:

Groups 1: I have 20 students and 11 students are girls. In this group I remind Let’s Book 1 and 2 about present simple and present continuous. I taught the form positive, negative, tuition. And I taught how to use it. After I explained my students could understand well. In this group my students can speak English very well than other group and they are happy to learn with me. Group 1 studied Monday to Wednesday from 9:00am to 10:00am In this group I have few bright students: Nget Rotha, Baoy Sokyin, Yoeung Sokthou, Som Vichet and Sem Phuthy.

In groups 2: I have 20 students and 8 students are girls. In this I taught Let’s Go Book II Unit 5 and 6. Groups 2 studied from Monday to Wednesday from 4:00pm to 5: 00pm. For unit 5 I taught about the article a and an. A use before words beginning with a vowel sound. Example: an egg, an orange, an apple. A is use before word beginning with a consonant sound. Example: a banana, hot dog, a sandwich and a salad. After I explained my students could understand well. Moreover, I taught a bout the roles of the plural noun we could add s.

Furthermore, for unit 6 I taught a bout conversation and how to sing the song (Whose watch is that). This unit I taught a bout noun. Example: bag, comb, comic book, brush, key, and tissue. At the end of this Unit I take 10 minutes to introduce about their backgrounds and make conversation. Now they are improved for their writing such as, they write the letter by themselves. For reading they can read better than before. Also, they can speak English very good and they are happy to learn with me. When I do homework in group at class, they can discus in English. In this group I have few bright students: Oy Lina, Bich Saovy, Son Menghuot, Keum Suthak and Rann Minea.

Groups 3: I have 20 students and 11 are girls. In this I taught Let’s Go Book II Unit 4, 5 and 6 Groups 3 studied from Thursday to Saturday from 9:00am to 10:00am. This Unit 1 I have taught was about conversation and I give them to practice with partner. And my students knew to sing the song (The Hello Song). Moreover, I have taught about short and long form positive and question. And after I explanted they could do it by themselves and they can discuss with each other in English. In this group I have few bright students: Chorn Sreyoun, Rann Soayut, Bouy Phutea, Mut Sreytouch and Moeung Pisith.

On other hand, for Unit 2 I have taught about the color such as, yellow, blue, white, pink, gray, red, green, purple, orange and brown. And after I explanted I took 10 minute for them to ask each other << what color do you like? >>. At the end of this Unit I gave the homework for them to do it at home.

Groups 4 I have 20 students and 7 students are girls. Groups 4 studied from Thursday to Saturday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. This group I taught the same groups three. In this group I have few bright students: Ram Kang, Limatin, Sam Kimsan, Prom Vean and Nget Piset.

Teaching computer class:

In this month, I have 48 students and students are girls. I have two computers and I have four groups of computer classes. I taught 6 students for one hour. Group1: I have 12 students and 6 students are girls. Groups 1 studied from Monday to Wednesday from 10:00am to 11:00am.

Groups 2: I have 12 students and 2 students are girls. Groups2 studies from Monday to Wednesday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Groups 3: I have 12 and 3 students are girls. Groups 3 studied from Thursday to Saturday from 10: 00am to 11:00am. Groups 4 I have 12 students and 3 students are girls. Group 4 studied from Thursday to Saturday from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm. All groups I taught about the meaning of computer and how to used computer. And then I explained my students that Computer they can used University, Institute and organization.

Moreover, all groups I have taught Micro soft Word and how to use it. Micro soft Word use to write the letter, article, report, how to make the table, in put picture, can cheek the letter and correct the English grammar very well. And then I have taught the meaning Basic of Computer (Hardware) such as, Monitor, Keyboard, mouse, hard disk, power supply, main board and ram. Also, I induced them how to put the finger on the keyboard and I show how to turn on / off computer. And I have taught them how to typing Unicode, paining the picture, draw line, draw arrow, draw rectangle, draw oval.

Before I allowed them to practice, I wrote the lesson on the black board for them to copy it. I stand near them while they practice. Especially, my students always asked me about computer and English when they have a break from public school.

Internet Explore

I taught my students about how to open Outlook Express and open Cambodia daily Newspaper. And after that I allowed them read Cambodia daily newspaper.

Equipment Maintenance:

The solar, batteries were working well, but one computer was not working. Before I start to teaching, I always allowed my students cleaned all part of Computer every month. Example: CPU, Key Board, Mouse, Monitor and table cloth. Especially, when I finished my teaching I cover them with a plastic bag. And I allowed them to clean the class every week.

Problems and other events: This month there had no any problems in my School or my rent house.

Living condition and village situation:

During this month in my village, I have a good relationship with the authority, Chief of Communities, Villagers, teachers and my students. All every evening the villager and my students always visited at my rent house.

Teaching Schedule Next Month

For English class, I am going to teach Unit 3 and 4 of Let’s Go Book I for group 1 and 3. Groups 4 I am going to teach Unit 7 and 8 of Let’s Go Book 2. Groups 2 I am going to teach 1 and 2 of Let’s Go Book 3. For Computer class, I am going to teach Mr. Word how to Insert picture, Insert symbol, Word Art, Header and footer. Moreover, how to make table such as Insert table and delete table.
